The feast went off without a hitch. We decided to go with a buffet-style meal to ensure everyone got enough to eat. It would have been challenging to serve everyone individually.
The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the chicken karaage. I made a record-breaking 130 portions of chicken karaage per minute. Despite having a variety of other dishes, it was clear that chicken karaage was the crowd favorite, loved by people of all ages and genders.
Well, maybe desserts were more popular with the girls. Those disappeared quickly, especially the pudding. But I won’t say anything more about that; I already know the reason.
Now, everyone has gone to sleep, although there might be some who can’t sleep. So, I used my “amplify” skill to play lullabies loudly, ensuring everyone falls asleep unless they have considerable resistance to it.
As for me, I’ve finished cleaning up and am about to go to bed. With breakfast preparations done for tomorrow, I can afford to sleep in a bit. This will be my last night sleeping in Ketorami.
[Huh? I want in too.]
As I was tidying up Ketorami, Hunter came over and snuggled in. Yes, this one has grown quite a bit and become stronger as well.
[Maito-sama! Please include me too!]
[Since it’s a special occasion!]
[It won’t be too hot, I promise!]
I think it might still be a bit too crowded, but since it’s a special occasion, we’ll all sleep together… it’s hot!
No, I’ll endure it.
[Oh, how nice. I’ll join too.]
Then Glida also joined us, folding her legs gracefully.
Hmm, it’s a beautiful starry night.
[Aren’t you going to sleep?]
“I am.โ
[In that case, go to sleep already. It’s not good for your health.]
I know that. It’s just that falling asleep feels like a bit of a waste.
I went to sleep.
Good morning. It’s morning now.
I woke up but decided to linger a bit longer under the futon, or rather, Ketorami, as it seemed like I could use a little more rest.
After thoroughly enjoying the fluffiness, I mustered the energy to get up.
Well, this is it. It’s my last day here.
Out of respect for Ketorami, who’s still napping, I’ll leave quietly.
For breakfast, I offered a choice between bread or rice since it’s our last meal here. We had various side dishes like bacon and eggs, miso soup, ohitashi, and pickles. Well, there was a variety of options.
Breakfast was finished, and the “Maid Cafe” was now closed.
“Um, you guys are staying here, right?”
I asked, and the maid dolls nodded vigorously.
Seems like they have plans to stay in this world and do various things. Good luck with your world domination!
But for now, until this battle is over, I’ll keep them tucked away in my skirt.
Around me, various people were preparing for battle.
And I started my job of casting “Sleep Cocoon” on the non-combatants.
At first, they were surprised, but eventually, everyone obediently let me cast the skill on them. Well, after hearing, “If you don’t want to die, let her do it,” from President, they quieted down.
Now, I have my dusting tools, the maid dolls, and MP recovery potions ready.
For those connected to me through my skill, I can provide infinite MP through the maid dolls. The maid dolls recover MP, and I transport it. It’s essentially an infinite MP army.
Within our group, it seems like everyone is connected through a “shared” skill.
Then there’s Akashi too. This is probably a “shared” skill for those who shared the contents of their glasses.
Akashi is connected to the entire Drama Club, so we essentially have an infinite MP army here.
After these preparations, I didn’t have much else to do. I can only hope that everyone stays safe and provide MP, throw recovery potions, use the maid dolls for reconnaissance, and move that robot that Katori summoned.
It doesn’t seem like much, but it’s something. Well, at least I’m not directly involved in the combat.
Oh, and there’s one more thing. I’ve been entrusted with ensuring the safety of the indoors. After all, I’m the “Head Maid.” Protecting the master’s home is also my duty.
“Attention all students. Please proceed to your designated starting points. I repeat, stand by at your starting points.”
The broadcast echoed, and we all made our way to our respective battlefields.
“Good luck, Maito-san,” Katori said, patting my shoulder with a smile, as he headed towards the grounds.
He would be fighting using his humanoid optical weapon. Well, it seemed more efficient than sniping.
“Maito-san, um, about the MP… please,” Kariya bowed his head and headed to the 1st-floor south, to the infirmary. He would move later, but for now, his MP was crucial, and I’d make sure not to let it run out.
“Okay, let’s both do our best.”
“Uh, well… let’s do our best.”
“Stay safe, okay?”
Toriumi, Kadomi-kun, and Hariu waved as they headed to the west grounds. These three were reliable, and I believed they would be okay, but I hoped they’d be cautious about injuries.
Shuura-san was already on the grounds, I heard.
“Maito-san, you’ll be in charge of making the call for retreat if needed. Please retreat immediately if you sense danger,” President instructed.
He planned to snipe the north grounds from a 3rd-floor northern classroom using magic and poison.
“Okay, just don’t mess up, alright?”
“Don’t put too much pressure on yourself.โ
Hagasaki-kun and Suzumoto headed to the west grounds too. They were strong, and I knew that, but it was natural to feel anxious given what had happened last time.
“Alright,” I muttered to myself.
My battlefield was different from theirs. Each of us had to do our best in our respective roles.
I had a job to do, and I would do it to the best of my abilities.
I was stationed in the 3rd-floor south classroom.
My role here was to ensure the safety of the “Sleeping Cocoons” non-combatants by continuously eliminating the slug-like monsters with this giant broom, and then, once safety was secured, release them from their “Sleeping Cocoons.”
Afterward, they would hunker down in the classroom, and I would continue to eliminate monsters within the school building as much as possible.
That was my task.
The broadcast continued with the announcement.
“We will now sing our school anthem. It is anticipated that the battle will commence immediately after the anthem. I repeat, we will now sing our school anthem. It is anticipated that the battle will commence immediately after the anthem. We pray for your success. Do your best! Stay safe!”
After the voices of the two broadcasting club members, the recording of the school anthem began to play.
I sang along alone in this room since the others were in their “Sleeping Cocoons.” However, I could faintly hear the voices of others from beyond the door and outside the windows.
As we finished singing the three verses of the school anthem, the floating classrooms all came together as one in that brief moment.
And in that very moment, the classroom was filled with monsters.
I would take care of this.
“Go, Roomba!”
I released the Roombas that Katori had given me, and they casually moved about, eliminating monsters as they went.
Casually, they moved about.
It was quite leisurely, but well, I appreciated it.
I swung the giant broom, hoping it would hit the slug-like creatures, and they were being eliminated one after another.
Even if I took damage, it was virtually zero damage considering I felt nothing from the poison. In less than a minute, I had wiped out all the monsters in the classroom.
When I looked out of the window, I saw that the battle outside was intense.
And more than anything else…
“Is this for real, Ketorami-san?”
Ketorami-san was fighting. Glida and Marbello were there as well. That meant Hunter might be there too. And the Dragons, including Shura-san, were involved as well.
Their fighting was flawless, and there was no sign of danger.
Oh, Ketorami-san was really strong.
And I knew that he would retreat if things got too dangerous. I had no worries on that front.
[Don’t just stand there! Focus on your job!]
I got scolded.
I wanted to help, but if I joined the fight, I wouldn’t be of any use. I would supply MP through the maid dolls while keeping an eye on the situation, then head out to the hallway.
The hallway was also filled with monsters, so I proceeded to eliminate them one by one with my trusty broom, taking advantage of its reach.
I had to make the most of this giant broom.
“Maito-san! If you have a moment, could you please help us with these monsters?”
For some reason, I received a message from President.
“Understood!”
I couldn’t believe I’d be struggling with these creatures…!
It would be bad if something happened later. I held the broom like a spear and charged forward.
As soon as I entered the hallway, there was a… traffic accident. A traffic accident where I was at fault, 10:0.
The broom had collided with one of those ridiculously strong monsters that appeared suddenly.
I wondered if the monsters saw it as a weird human suddenly showing up and delivering a painless attack. Or perhaps they didn’t even notice me because I was so weak.
But I wasn’t going to let this opportunity slip through my fingers.
“Cleaning!”
With that, they vanished in an instant.
Gone.
I did it! I didn’t really understand what had just happened, but I did it!
However, the joy was short-lived as a new group of monsters approached. I sprinted towards President’s location as they were the only ones left.
I continued sweeping through the hallways and staircases, eventually reaching the infirmary.
“Are you all okay?”
“Maito-san.”
There, as expected, Kariya and the others were maintaining a barrier to prevent the monsters from invading.
“Alright, let’s clean up the monsters in the infirmary too. It feels so satisfying!”
With that, I swiftly cleared out the monsters in the infirmary.
“Wow… Thank you so much, Maito-san. Um, could you also clean the hallways?”
“Okay! I’ll make sure the ground floor is clean for the evacuees!”
Now, let’s get cleaning! Let’s make everything clean!
About 15 minutes later, I had cleaned the entire school building. I believed there were no more sea cows or slug-like creatures left, so I began to release the “Sleeping Cocoons.”
I left two maid dolls in that room and used them as a communication link in case anything happened. I didn’t think I’d need it, but it was better to be safe.
Then, I looked out the window. Magic and arrows were being launched from the school building, attacking the monsters. People inside were also adding their attacks.
The humanoid optical weapons were firing beams. It was quite a spectacle!
I could see Terra-san and Kadomi-kun. Hariu and… yes, Toriumi was there too. Everyone was fighting.
They were fighting much more safely and without struggling compared to last time. Having the option to retreat if things got tough made a significant difference. The psychological advantage was immense.
I occasionally helped by reaching out through the window or assisting in the infirmary.
However, I refrained from attacking the monsters outside the school building on the walkway. It was unclear whether the Origin was still there or not. We shouldn’t take any risks.
But sometimes, when monsters were positioned right outside the window, I couldn’t help but open the window and give them a good sweep.
And so, the battle continued for several hours.
I could sense that the last monster had disappeared, and then the school building began to glow. The entire school was enveloped in cheers, and it took only a few seconds.
We had won.
“Maito!”
As I stepped outside, everyone was already gathered.
“It felt like it took forever.”
“Yeah. But it was much easier than last time.”
People were celebrating all around.
“I’m exhausted.”
“…Did anyone die? Did I die?”
“You’re alive, you’re okay.”
From the broadcasting room, I could hear the joyful voices of the two announcers and Romeo and Juliet being performed.
“I did quite well! I think I defeated at least seven!”
“Yeah, I probably got around that many too.”
Oh, Akashi was rushing toward me. I might need to run away.
No, there was no need to run. Not this time.
“Maito, you did great.”
“Yeah. You too. Well done.”
The light enveloping the school building grew stronger.
It felt familiar.
Our world was right there, waiting for us.
When the intense light subsided, I found myself standing in a vast…
…meadow.
…Let’s be specific.
This place is a meadow in the 2nd-floor south area. Besides me, there’s Ketorami and the other monsters, the maid dolls, some grass, and the sky. That’s all.
…It seems I’ve been left behind.
