SS 64: The First Verdict

This is the best opportunity to establish a kingdom for the Atavists!

Unlike other exams, most are graded by artificial intelligence, allowing for quick results. However, as the most important exam across the Alliance, the college entrance exam undergoes a second round of grading by professional teachers for a portion of the questions after AI grading, making its result announcement cycle longer. Results are released fifteen days after the first trial ends.

According to Alliance law, there’s exactly a fifteen-day gap between the first and second trials. This means, if the underground arena contests the first trial’s verdict and applies for a second trial, Feng Lianzhu’s college entrance exam results will be released the day before the second trial.

The exam went smoothly, and Feng Lianzhu felt it was his best performance yet. He checked his answers with Teacher Green Dragon the night the exam ended. Based on the AI’s standards, Teacher Green Dragon graded Feng Lianzhu’s paper, finding all objective questions correct, and the essay exceptionally well done. Teacher Green Dragon believed, barring any surprises, Feng Lianzhu would be the top scorer across all subjects, outperforming all arts and science students.

Feng Lianzhu hadn’t told Teacher Green Dragon about his plan to “steal” him; he decided to wait until the exam results were out to share the news.

Uncertain if the teacher would be willing to accompany him to the primitive star, Feng Lianzhu felt apprehensive. He planned to ask Teacher Green Dragon about his wishes before deciding whether to claim his reward.

To graduate from university as quickly as possible, Feng Lianzhu asked Teacher Green Dragon to help him choose a university major that was easiest to master and could lead to the fastest graduation, starting his major studies the night after the college entrance exam.

Once he graduated from university, Pang Kirates could fully mature, and Feng Lianzhu wanted to accelerate this process.

Teacher Green Dragon… unexpectedly chose the physical education major at a teacher training college for Feng Lianzhu.

Feng Lianzhu: “……”

Teacher Green Dragon explained that the physical education major involved courses in pedagogy, educational psychology, school sports, sports psychology, exercise physiology, sports anatomy, sports health care, sports teaching theory, as well as theoretical knowledge and physical training in various sports. Given Feng Lianzhu’s memory, mastering all theoretical knowledge in fifteen days was no issue, and his physical ability was top-notch, enabling him to learn any sport immediately.

This meant that Feng Lianzhu only had a two-month internship period as a physical education teacher left. As long as he completed the internship successfully, he could take the graduation exam.

Teacher Green Dragon also advised Feng Lianzhu to find a school internship between the end of the college entrance exam and the start of university, and to write his graduation thesis during the internship. This way, he could take all exams upon starting school and directly receive his diploma!

Feng Lianzhu: “……”

Although he wasn’t quite familiar with the current educational system, having a college entrance exam top scorer opt for a physical education university would probably cause headaches for various universities and the Education Department.

But this indeed was the fastest way to graduate. After graduating from university, Pang Kirates could advance to the fourth stage of transformation into a human, with only one task left before reaching the fifth stage.

However, Feng Lianzhu was unaware of what the task for the fifth stage entailed.

Logically speaking, the task of establishing a nation for the Atavists should have been the ultimate mission of Pang Kirates, but now it has unexpectedly become the responsibility of Feng Lianzhu. Thus, the final mission of the fat dragon remains utterly unpredictable.

The only thing Feng Lianzhu could do was to graduate from university as quickly as possible.

With such worries, Feng Lianzhu accompanied 100 Atavists to the highest court of the alliance the next day.

This was a major case. Laurie had exposed some of the underground arena’s crimes half a month ago, when the date for the first trial was set. Most of the citizens of the alliance were paying attention to this matter, forcing the supreme court to broadcast the trial process live across the entire alliance.

The planet of Eimiral has two suns and no night. The time for the first trial was set for 8:00 AM network time. Countless viewers logged onto the network, sitting in virtual seats to watch the trial.

This time, in addition to the 100 Atavists like Lizard, there were 86 other Atavists and modified humans who survived. Some of them were still in the intensive care unit being resuscitated, while others sat in wheelchairs wearing critical condition monitors to testify in court.

Lizard and others were quite healthy. Feng Lianzhu sat with them in the waiting area. The Atavists, aside from Lizard, were so frightened to see Feng Lianzhu sitting calmly among them that they did not dare to speak, each of them quiet and still.

Feng Lianzhu, however, was looking down, focusing intently on his smart brain, memorizing the textbook and exam outline of “Educational Psychology.”

An inspector planted within the alliance by the imperial military announced the illegal activities of the underground arena’s mastermind, staff, and audience, totaling 267 people, listing the evidence one by one. Illegal gambling, murder, illegal human experimentation, illegal modification of human bodies, using money to incite underground arena fighters to beat and abuse others to death, trafficking military weapons, possessing illegal armed forces, alliance upper echelons breaking the law knowingly, and opening the doors wide for the underground arena using their positions of power were among the crimes, each punishable by a thousand years, adding up to at least ten thousand years in total.

The prosecutor requested the death penalty for the main perpetrators and those with severe involvement. It had been 578 years since the alliance last carried out a death penalty, with the last subject being a high-ranking official of the imperial military.

Just reading the crimes of the underground arena took more than two hours, followed by the presentation of evidence piece by piece, with the opposing lawyers rebutting each one, until 3:00 PM network time, when it was the turn of Lizard and others to testify.

Due to the large number of people involved, the first day was only enough to list the evidence, and the second day was for the defense of the accused. After testifying according to Laurie’s instructions, Lizard and others returned to the waiting area, where they were monitored.

This was the first time the Atavists appeared in the public eye, and the first time alliance citizens saw adult Atavists. Their circumstances sparked heated discussions online.

As previously calculated, at least 15%-20% of the alliance had either come into contact with or were related to Atavists. They had always believed that the Atavists were simply being protected by the alliance, living happily in a safe place with others like themselves, free from discrimination.

However, this case shattered the beautiful dream of the ordinary citizens of the alliance. They had never imagined that the children they had once abandoned might have already died or were suffering immensely.

The experiment records of the Atavists, the miserable conditions of the Atavists after modification, and the treatment of the Atavists in the underground arena were posted on the official website by Laurie, leaving the people of the alliance unable to deceive themselves any longer.

Guilt and sympathy drew the attention of the entire Alliance to this case, with many ordinary residents stating that they too had had children with atavistic traits and were actually willing to raise them. However, according to the “Atavists Protection Act” issued by the Alliance, many of them had never even seen their children. The children born with Atavists were taken away by hospital staff right after birth.

Many Alliance parents didn’t despise their own children; they simply had no choice in the matter.

Reinstating the death penalty required a vote by the citizens of the Alliance, with over 20% of the public representatives’ valid votes needed for it to pass. The voting channel was opened on the first day of the trial, and there were few voters during the court session. However, by the time the first day of the trial was adjourned, countless people had cast their votes in favor of the death penalty.

A voice within the Alliance rose up, questioning whether the “Atavists Protection Act” was truly protecting these children. How many of the Atavists were still alive? Was there still a need to enforce such a law?

What would become of the people with Atavists? This question became a hot search topic of the day, with countless people commenting below, yet no consensus was reached.

While the people of the Alliance were sympathizing with those with Atavists, an anonymous account on the Star Web quietly released a video showing the current treatment of the victims with Atavists involved in the underground arena case. As witnesses, they were monitored and imprisoned by the Alliance, living in a detention center under the Supreme Court, crowded into a single room, huddling together insecurely, like pitiful little beasts.

This video instantly ignited the anger of the populace, with many openly rebuking the Supreme Court. Why treat a group of children, who had suffered so much harm, in such a way? They were witnesses, not criminals!

The Supreme Court came forward to clarify, stating that these Atavists were participants in the underground arena, and every one of them had taken many lives. They were indeed pitiful, but also highly dangerous, and could not be allowed to move freely in society.

However, whether it was testifying in court or quietly sleeping in the detention center as shown in the video, each one of them looked so well-behaved.

After the Supreme Court’s clarification was released, another video was posted online.

In the video, a very gentle male voice asked a lizard person, “Do you feel uncomfortable living here? If there’s anything you need, tell me, and I will help you solve it.”

“It’s okay,” said Lizard person, curling up and tucking in its claws, “Actually, it’s pretty good here, at least it doesn’t hurt. In the lab, my scales were plucked out daily, my brain was electrocuted, spinal fluid was extracted, and my tail was chopped off countless times. In the detention center, we sleep together, at least it’s safe and bright, and you don’t wake up one day to find another companion dead and dragged away.”

The video showed the gentle man, without revealing his face, stretching out his well-defined hand to touch Lizard’s head, saying, “Sleep well.”

Viewers could see that the owner of the hand wore a long and wide sleeve, and his clothes were a shade of blue, like his voice, though somewhat cold, was very gentle.

Hearing about the past treatment of the Atavists, the netizens couldn’t stand it anymore. They pleaded with the Supreme Court to treat them better, at the very least provide individual rooms, soft beds, and good food, and not to chill their hearts any further.

After this case, the Alliance’s high-ranking officials lost all credibility in the eyes of the public, pressured by online public opinion. They had no choice but to rent a hotel near the Supreme Court overnight, arranging for these Atavists to stay there, and deployed troops to guard the hotel. Only after announcing the improved conditions online did public opinion improve slightly.

Lizard, moved to a spacious room, only knew that it was this person, who used the Empire’s military account to stir up public sentiment and forced the Supreme Court to improve their conditions through the two videos.

For the first time in this case, Atavists received treatment equal to that of ordinary citizens of the Alliance.

All of this was thanks to Feng Lianzhu.

Every room in the hotel had a smart brain, and that evening, watching the online public opinion, the Atavists finally believed what Feng Lianzhu had told them.

The long-established “Atavists Protection Act” of the Alliance was finally shaken by this case, and the citizens of the Alliance faced the existence of Atavists head-on, convinced that after this case, the “Atavists Protection Act” would definitely be abolished.

This was the best opportunity to establish a nation for Atavists!

The author has something to say:

Lizard: How did you come up with so many methods?

Feng Lianzhu: By combining knowledge from various books, you also need to read books.

This plot is a bit dry, but it still needs to be written. Lazy Qing will transition past this quickly, and there’s another update before ten, love you all (ใฅ๏ฟฃ3๏ฟฃ)ใฅโ•ญ?๏ฝž
